Cochrane and Area Humane Society now accepting scholarship applications
The Cochrane and Area Humane Society Scholarship is awarded each year to up to four students who are in Grade 12 in the Cochrane area or Morley Community School. The students must be accepted at a post-secondary institute where they plan to pursue a career in a field related to human or animal care, health, medicine or education and have demonstrated participation in extracurricular activities, school sports or part-time employment. It is preferred if the applicant has completed volunteer hours at the Cochrane and Area Humane Society. Applications are due May 31, to learn more visit cochranehumane.ca/kids-programs-education/.
Helping Hands food drive cancelled
The Helping Hands food drive scheduled to his neighbourhoods April 10 has been cancelled due to COVID-19 public health measures. The food drive was scheduled to visit Gleneagles, East End, Downtown, Glenbow, Riverview and Greystone. The Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area is now planning to host the food drive in June, keep your donation bags ready future food drives. Helping Hands recommends donating canned tomatoes, canned meats, rice, olive oil, mayonnaise, juice, toothpaste, dish soap, deodorants and other non-perishable items. Lego Competition moves online for 2021
The annual kids' LEGO Competition, usually held at St. Andrew's United Church will be held online through a Facebook page this year. Competitors can post their LEGO entry to the Photo Gallery page category that best fits their creation. Monday, April 19 will be the final day for entry and judging will be finalized by Friday, April 23. Entry is free and you may enter as many times as you like. The use of LEGO sets is not allowed and amazing creativity is encouraged. Competitors may enter up to three photos with a description or one short video (less than 20 seconds) to showcase their entry.
