TAKE A CULTURAL VOYAGE
Newcomers Cochrane and the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee are hosting a fundraising raffle, with three grand prizes of $1,000 each. The funds will go towards hosting events such as the Amazing Cochrane Culture Hunt. The event, scheduled for Sept. 27, is a free-to-attend scavenger hunt, where participants will work out clues that will lead them to booths that represent a unique culture. After deducing the location of all of the booths, the participant’s head back to the start to be entered into a draw to win a prize. The draw for the raffle will take place on Sept. 2. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online. Visit the Newcomers Cochrane Facebook page for more information.
TREAT YOURSELF TO A FANCY FEAST

GARMIN VICTIM OF CYBER ATTACK
A cyber attack on fitness and tech retailer Garmin on Thursday (July 23) interrupted its services, including website functions, customer support, company communications and customer-facing applications, for several hours. In a press release issued on Monday (July 27), the retailer said that it has no indication that any customer information was accessed, lost or stolen, nor was the functionality of any Garmin products affected. However, customers could experience delays in service over the next few days as “as the backlog of information is being processed.” The release also noted that Garmin’s financials were not affected as a result of the attack.
