SPRINGBANK COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL WELCOMES NEW PRINCIPAL
Darrell Lonsberry has been appointed the new principal of Springbank Community High School. Lonsberry joined Rocky View Schools in 2016 from Connect Charter School in Calgary where he held administrative positions for 13 years. He has more than a decade of experience teaching elementary, middle and high school classes for boards across the province. In his four-years with Rocky View Schools, Lonsberry has collaborated to create a vision for Springbank Middle School centred around staff and student engagement, relationships and school culture, and places and spaces to support learning.

SURPRISE POLICE TRAINING EXERCISE UPSETS BRAGG CREEK RESIDENTS
Upset Bragg Creek residents were left unnerved after Calgary Police Services training exercise filled the community with the sounds of explosive devices and firearms on Thursday (June 4). Reeve Greg Boehlke said sending Calgary Police Services into Rocky View County and setting off controlled explosions without proper communication was insensitive. Residents of the hamlet began reaching out to the county questioning why they were hearing detonation sounds. The landowner where the exercise took place has apologized to the County. Moving forward any training exercise events conducted in the County must provide advanced notification, have permits or have permission to avoid misunderstandings and scaring the public.
