Cochrane Emergency Training Services will be resuming Standard First Aid, Emergency First Aid and Basic Life Support courses on June 2. With COVID-19 still present, precautions will be taken including additional sanitization and social distancing. Public classes will be reduced in capacity to a maximum of four participants and hands-on training will be facilitated by the use of mannequins. Gloves and hand sanitizer will be provided for use. Masks are not considered mandatory. Visit cochraneemergencytraining.com for more information or to sign up for upcoming courses.
WOLFDOG SANCTUARY RE-OPENS
The Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary will open it's doors to the public again on Thursday (May 28) running off their regular hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday to Monday. The regular Sanctuary Walk is currently unavailable and has been replaced by offering a General Admission at a reduced rate. The Sanctuary has also undergone a few other changes. There will be more signage throughout the grounds to provide more information to guests about wolves and wolfdogs, and kids can take part in a fun worksheet during their visit. Due to COVID-19 the anticipated opening of the Visitor Centre has been pushed back until the fall. New protocols and guidelines will also be active in response to the virus and the unique virtual experience can still be enjoyed from home. For more information about visiting rules, age restrictions, Sanctuary tours or dress code visit yamnuskawolfdogsanctuary.com.
FUNDRAISER LAUNCHED
A GoFundMe page has been created for Michelle Pickering - a mother, wife, and friend to many in the community of Cochrane. Michelle died earlier this week surrounded by her husband and children after battling cervical cancer. Her husband Chad created a GoFundMe page in May of 2019 to help ease the financial burden of unanticipated medical expenses. If you would like to help the family please visit the GoFundMe "Michelle's Cancer Battle."
