If retirement is on your horizon, then Cochrane should be high on your list of potential spots to live out your golden years.

The town was listed in CottageLife.com’s “The best places to retire in Canada,” for people who may be looking to settle down more permanently than on a vacation property.

“Western enthusiasts will find that the bedroom community is the perfect place for a hobby farm right on the Cowboy Trail, while adventurers will want to take advantage of the paragliding and cycling opportunities,” Jessica Wynne Lockhart writes for Cottage Life.

She lists Cochrane’s closeness to Calgary and its vistas of the Canadian Rockies as other features that make the town an attractive option for retirees.

Six other places made the list, such as Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., for its heritage properties and vinyards, Straford, Ont., for the cultural amenities, Kelowna, B.C., for the climate and lakeside lifestyle, Comox, B.C., with fishing and year-round golfing, Moncton, N.B., with its closeness to national parks and outdoors opportunities, and Estevan, Sask., for its sunny days and volunteer opportunities.
