Cochrane RCMP have revealed the arrest of an individual involved in the break-in of a local residence and the theft of an RCMP badge as well as two vehicles last month.

On Dec. 13, Dalton Winnipeg-Darling, a 23-year-old resident of Strathmore, was arrested by Calgary Police Service officers while operating a stolen vehicle.

"Cochrane CRU assisted in this investigation and were able to recover the stolen RCMP badge," RCMP stated in a press release.

The arrest comes after a residential break-in was reported in Cochrane on Nov. 27, when suspects broke into a home and stole an RCMP officer's badge, as well as two vehicles.

According to RCMP, one vehicle was recovered while the other is still outstanding.

"Cochrane Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) took carriage of the investigation and with assistance from Calgary Police Service Auto Theft Team, identified one of the male suspects involved in the break, enter and theft," the release stated.

Winnipeg-Darling has been charged with break-and-enter, two counts of possession of stolen property, theft over $5,000, and failure to comply with conditions. After a judicial interim hearing, Winnipeg-Darling was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Cochrane provincial court on Jan. 3, 2023.

Another suspect has also been identified and is currently wanted on outstanding warrants. Shinise Dunbar, a 30-year-old resident of Calgary, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and a warrant has been issued for her arrest. Anyone with information on Dunbar’s location is asked to contact the Cochrane RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
