Cochrane RCMP assisted in a recent major drug bust, in partnership with Calgary Police Services.

On Oct. 5, Cochrane RCMP officers assisted CPS in a search warrant at a residence in Calgary, during which officers seized 116 grams of fentanyl, 364 grams of methamphetamine, and 316 grams of cocaine.

According to Cochrane RCMP, the search warrant arose after the death of a person who was suspected to have died from an accidental fentanyl overdose.

"This developed into a joint drug trafficking investigation with Calgary Police Service District Operations Team 20," Cochrane RCMP stated in a press release.

Two Calgarians were arrested following the drug seizure. Owen Michael Tracy, 24, and Kudzaiishe Thomas Ngara, 24.

Tracy faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, two counts of possession of an item used to traffic a controlled substance, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Ngara faces similar charges, albeit fewer – four counts possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, and two counts possession of an item used to traffic a controlled substance.

Tracy and Ngara have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in provincial court on Nov. 15, according to Cochrane RCMP's press release.
