Cochrane RCMP have located and charged two individuals in connection with recent vandalism incidents in the community.

A concerned citizen reported seeing two people spray-painting the doors and walls of a building and provided police with a description of the suspects. A second caller later reported damage to an adjacent building.

On July 23, 2025, just before 2 p.m., RCMP officers responded to the reports and quickly located the suspects sitting on a bench near the local library. Both had paint on their clothing that matched the paint on the damaged buildings. Further investigation revealed the spray paint cans had been stolen from a nearby business.

“We would like to thank community members for their detailed information and timely reports,” said Cochrane RCMP in a statement. “Their vigilance played an integral role in quickly locating and arresting these two offenders.”

Two adults from Mini Thni, Alta., have been charged with the following offences:

  • Mischief under $5,000 (x2)
  • Mischief over $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000

The accused cannot be named as the charges have not yet been sworn. They were released from custody with conditions and are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane on Sept. 16, 2025.
