On Feb. 20, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of the traffic lights being out at Highway 1A and Highway 22 in Cochrane. After attending to the scene, RCMP officers observed the transformer box at this intersection had been pushed over, exposing wire and damaging the guardrail.
"Traffic lights were out for several hours while crews worked to fix them," stated a press release, adding damage to the transformer box and guardrail is estimated to be over $2,000.
RCMP are seeking information regarding the cause of the damage resulting in the traffic lights not working.
