Cochrane RCMP seek public's assistance in determining cause of grass fire

The Cochrane RCMP is seeking the public's assistance in determining the cause of a grass fire near Bow Valley High School on Wednesday (April 28).

COCHRANE— On Wednesday (April 28), the Cochrane RCMP and Cochrane Fire Services were dispatched to a grass fire near Bow Valley High School.

Cochrane Fire Service members were able to contain the blaze and prevent spread to any of the surrounding properties, avoiding an evacuation order for the area.

The Cochrane RCMP are investigating the cause of the fire as its proximity to nearby homes could have caused serious damage to the properties near by.

The area where the fire originated is on private land, and trespassing on private property carries a penalty of a $300 fine under the Petty Trespass Act.

Cochrane RCMP are investigating and are looking to speak to anyone who may have information regarding this incident.
