Cochrane reports 33 active cases of COVID-19

There were a reported 33 active cases of COVID-19 as of the end of the day Sunday (March 28) in Cochrane. To date, 406 cases have been reported in the town— Two people have died and 371 people have recovered.

COCHRANE— The are more than 30 active cases of COVID-19 currently identified in Cochrane.

There were a reported 33 active cases of COVID-19 as of the end of the day Sunday (March 28) in Cochrane. To date, 406 cases have been reported in the town— Two people have died and 371 people have recovered.

Four schools in Cochrane are reporting multiple cases of COVID-19. Bow Valley High School is reporting an outbreak of 10 or more cases of the virus, Cochrane High School is on alert for a reported two to four cases of COVID-19, Fireside School is on alert for two to four cases of the virus and Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School is on alert for two to four cases of COVID-19.

In Rocky View County, Springbank Community High School and Springbank Middle School are reporting an outbreak of five to nine cases of COVID-19, and the Edge School for Athletes is reporting an outbreak of 10 or more cases of the virus.

In the last 24 hours, 545 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in Alberta after the completion of 8,300 tests.

The provincial testing positivity rate currently sits at 6.5 per cent.

Of the 545 new cases, 249 are variants of concern. Variants of concern currently account for 27 per cent of active COVID-19 cases.

There are 288 COVID-related hospitalizations, including 64 people in intensive care.

No new COVID-related deaths have been reported to Alberta Health in the past 24-hours.

More than 608,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Alberta to date, including more than 97,500 Albertans being fully vaccinated with two doses.

There are 7,922 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.
