Cochrane reports 36 active cases of COVID-19

As of the end of the day Tuesday (March 9) there were a reported 36 active cases of COVID-19 in the town. To date, 361 cases have been identified in Cochrane— Two people have died and 323 people have recovered.

COCHRANE— The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Cochrane is continuing to climb.

As of the end of the day Tuesday (March 9) there were a reported 36 active cases of COVID-19 in the town. To date, 361 cases have been identified in Cochrane— Two people have died and 323 people have recovered.

Three schools in the region are reporting multiple cases of the virus. Bow Valley High School has reported an outbreak of 10 or more cases, Cochrane High School is on alert for a reported two to four cases of COVID-19 and Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School is on alert for two to four cases of the virus.

In the last 24 hours, the province has identified 399 new cases of COVID-19 after the completion of 10,400 tests.

The provincial testing positivity rate sits at 3.4 per cent.

There are 254 COVID-related hospitalizations in the province, including 37 patients in intensive care.

The province announced two additional COVID-related deaths have been reported by Alberta Health Services in the last 24-hours. To date, 1,928 Albertans have died.

The province has administered 309,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 91,000 to Albertans who have been fully immunized with two doses.

There are 4,463 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.
