Cochrane FCSS returns with its annual Jacket Racket seasonal clothing donation event on Oct. 29.

Despite the out-of-season and warmer than usual weather in the community, Cochrane’s annual Jacket Racket returns for another year on Oct. 28.

This year’s event will take place at the Cochrane Alliance Church on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., where residents will have the chance to browse through a selection of gently used seasonal apparel. Refreshments and children’s activities will also be available throughout the event.

The initiative aims to provide residents with gently used seasonal apparel and winter gear as the seasons change, to residents of all ages.

From Oct. 11 to 25, the Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) will be collecting donations of gently used winter clothing, alongside Halloween costumes for trick or treaters ahead of Halloween.

Those interested in making a donation can do so by visiting one of the eight clothing donation bins around town. The bins can be located at BGC Cochrane, Bow Valley Credit Union, Cochrane Alliance Church, the RancheHouse, Cochrane Safeway, the FCSS, the Family Resource Network, and the SLS Centre.

"In these times of rising living costs, the Jacket Racket Event is more important than ever," says Kim Krawec, Manager of FCSS, Town of Cochrane. “Donations of jackets, hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, snowsuits, and boots of all sizes will make a real difference and ensure that everyone in our community stays warm and safe this winter."
