There are still a few performances for Cochranites to check out Take a Bow Theatre Society’s rendition of One Bad Apple: Snow White and the Evil Red Delicious.
Performances are scheduled at the Cochrane Ranchehouse featuring 7 p.m. evening shows on Nov. 25 and 26, and Dec. 2 and 3. A matinee at 2 p.m. will take place Dec. 3 and 4. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for children.
The play, written by Canadian playwright Charlotte Nixon, will be a twist on the traditional Snow White and the Seven Dwarves fairy tale. Kevin Polischuk, vice-president of Take a Bow Theatre Society and stage manager for the show, said the rendition will be a pantomime performance involving participation from the audience.
“It starts out a little different, it ends different, and there’s a lot of audience interaction participation,” Polischuk said. “The cast eggs on the audience to help them out, by either booing of cheering, and [pantomiming] is a lot of fun.”
With the opening performance quickly approaching, Polischuk said the biggest challenge the crew is facing is the current outbreak of the flu and RSV among the cast. But fortunately the viruses have not stopped them from rehearsing.
“Hopefully going live this weekend, everyone is good to go,” he said before the first few showings last weekend.
Polischuk adds that the production is entirely volunteer-based, meaning that everyone involved is not getting paid and are simply passionate members of Cochrane’s acting community, looking to take part however they can.
“It’s all dedicated theatre people that love to be on stage or behind the scenes,” Polischuk said.
Tickets for the production are selling fast, with only a few seats left in each performance as of Nov. 23.
Polischuk noted this is Take a Bow Theatre’s first production since 2019 due to COVID-19, which means tickets have been selling quickly.
“The last two years have been squashed because of the pandemic and I’m sure people want to see live theatre, and have some fun,” Polischuk said. “…Hopefully they find what we do entertaining and worthwhile.”
Additional productions aimed more towards adults are planned for the spring of 2023. To purchase tickets, please visit takeabow.ca or search @Takeabowtheatre on Instagram.
