Collision north of Cochrane results in serious injuries

Didsbury RCMP, EMS and Fire responded to a motor vehicle collision west of Didsbury (near Cremona) Dec. 6 at 4:10 p.m. The collision took place at the junction of Hwy 22 Hwy 579 when a car travelling westbound along Hwy 579 was struck by a southbound SUV.

The driver and the passenger of the car suffered serious injuries and were transported to hospital by STARS. The driver of the SUV was not injured. The passenger of the SUV was transported to hospital, sustaining minor injuries.

Two males were located and arrested following complaints of suspicious activity in the area of Sunset Heights.

Cochrane RCMP officers were notified of suspicious persons checking vehicle doors between 1 a.m.-2:30 a.m. Dec. 3. An immediate patrol resulted in officers observing two individuals running from the area. Eighteen-year-old Elijah Orea and 20-year-old Bosco Kupazo have each been charged with one count of Possession of Stolen Property and Theft Under $5,000.

A female believed to be associated with the accused men was observed departing the area in a blue four-door car. The RCMP learned that the car had been stolen in Calgary earlier that day.

An investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
