A GlenEagles resident, 52 year-old Kelly Corbett, was convicted of Mischief and Failure to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking on Dec. 16, 2014.
The charges are related to numerous incidents reported last summer of Corbett removing her clothes and behaving inappropriately on her front lawn, appearing to be intoxicated.
She received a suspended sentence and probation for one year. Now that she has been convicted, concerned neighbour Amanda Field is hopeful Corbett will face more serious consequences should there be further incidents in the future.
“It’s been a persistent problem for a number of years and we’ve been frustrated with the slow process of the legal system — as it took many months to finally see this in court,” said Field.
“We all expect to abide by a certain standard of behaviour to be considered good neighbours and her behaviour has fallen well below this standard. She seems to have failed to understand the impact her poor behaviour has had on her neighbours — including children.”
The driver of a pickup truck believed to have caused a multi-vehicle collision on Jan. 6 has been charged with Careless Driving.
The offence carries with it a $402 ticket and a six-demerit penalty.
The driver allegedly chose to unsafely pass a string of vehicles near the Ozada Flats overpass along Hwy 1. This led to obstructed visibility and a collision involving four vehicles.
Three people were taken to hospital, with one person having sustained severe, non-life threatening injuries and another with a reported broken wrist.
The charged driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
Corp. Troy Savinkoff with the Cochrane RCMP detachment said the first week of January saw a spike in vehicle collisions, including over 20 collisions reported in one day.
Savinkoff wishes to remind readers to exercise caution during the winter months and to be mindful of icy roads and decreased visibility.
