A new stormwater facility is being built by the Town of Cochrane near the West Terrace Pond to enhance flood resilience of the area and improve the quality of stormwater discharged into the Bow River.

The pond will be expanded into a constructed stormwater management pond, and the path around it will be removed and replaced to be able to shift the water treatment plant outfall.

A larger pedestrian bridge is also needed to accommodate the new outfall from the pond so a new bridge, rated to allow for emergency and maintenance vehicles to cross, will also be constructed.

Updates will be provided during construction with respect to pathway closures and restrictions surrounding water activities.

Construction, including the pathway closure, is scheduled to start July 4 and continue until October.
