Construction has begun on the 4 Avenue bridge replacement project.
The Town of Cochrane is replacing the old bridge at the bottom of 4 Avenue North near the intersection with Ranche Road.
The bridge is closed for construction, which was timed to follow Bighill Creek's high-flow period. The new bridge is anticipated to be opened on or around Aug. 15, depending on the weather.
During the construction period, there will be no access across the creek and local traffic will be temporarily re-routed along the closed portion of Ranche Road between Sunset Drive and 4 Avenue North.
Parking will not be permitted along Ranche Road for safety reasons, and use of the road will be for adjacent residents only.
Vehicle traffic will not be permitted on 4 Avenue between Sunterra Road and the bridge to allow access for construction.
