Due to an ATCO gas line that was reportedly struck around noon in the Quarry area, many Cochranites and downtown businesses have been without natural gas for several hours. A spokesperson with ATCO said that the repair has been completed and relighting will being at 7 p.m. - where residents will have technicians come door-to-door to relight their furnaces. As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, not all service had been restored and the ATCO call centre automated message stated the work of going door-to-door was expected to be completed by 4 p.m. The line was reportedly hit at 65 Bow Street by a third party contractor; crews have been on sight since that time. Approximately 900 customers were affected.
