Dangerous driver on Highway 1 located by Cochrane RCMP and Alberta Sheriff

ROCKY VIEW COUNTY— Cochrane RCMP and an Alberta Sheriff managed to successfully locate a dangerous driver Monday (July 27) afternoon.

Cochrane RCMP received multiple complaints of a dangerous driver on eastbound Highway 1 coming from Canmore. RCMP said the man was reportedly driving a black Toyota 4 Runner.

The driver was allegedly involved with multiple hit and run collisions in the Canmore area and was seen driving in and out of ditches and the median before driving backwards in the eastbound lane.

RCMP said the driver and his vehicle was located after coming to stop on Old Banff Coach Road— He was found by RCMP on the roof of the car acting erratically.

Before stopping the driver was reportedly wearing a mask and waving a stick-like object out of the window.

RCMP were able to take the man into custody without incident.
