Cochrane’s Dillon Dub é will represent Canada at the 2017 World Junior Hockey Championship.

Earlier this week, Dub é, who plays for the Kelowna Rockets, and 31 other players showed off their skills at a four-day Hockey Canada selection camp, in hopes of earning a spot on the coveted team.

Last night, after the selects team dominated in an exhibition game against the Czech Republic, Team Canada’s head coach Dominique Ducharme announced the final roster of 22 players - and it included the 5-foot-11, 185-pound left winger.

Dub é said last week that it would be a dream come true if he could represent his country at the world juniors.

“Having that opportunity I’ve been dreaming about since I was a kid … would be a huge honour, ” he said.

The 10-day after-Christmas tournament is one of hockey’s most anticipated annual events - stacked with the best young players in the world who proudly represent their countries to compete for the IIHF championship title.

This year, Toronto and Montreal are co-hosting the games - and Dub é said last week it would be a double reward to get to play for Canada on home ice.

Dub é will take the ice with his teammates on Dec. 26, when Canada takes on Slovakia during the World Junior Championships’ first day of play.
