Dutch photographer Wouter Roosenboom presented a collection of cycling photos, including his recent Cochrane shoots, at Half-Hitch Brewing Company last Friday.
Roosenboom had been shooting in Cochrane from Tuesday to Saturday last week.
He flew out on Monday, April 1.
The photos are to be used in the 2019/2020 winter clothing catalogue for Dutch sportswear company Rogelli.
“They were deciding which area to pick. Either Norway or this area,” said Robert Martens, Rogelli distributor for Canada.
“Because [Rogelli] started a year ago in Canada, we decided to go overseas for the first time."
Martens added that online research of Cochrane scenery contributed to the shooting decision.
The shooting experience in Cochrane was a positive experience for Roosenboom and his crew.
“They’re already contemplating coming back for summer,” said Martens.
The photos taken in Cochrane are not exclusively for the Rogelli catalogue.
“We’re going to shoot a lot of photos for the town,” said Martens.
A selection of Roosenboom’s photos will be made available to the Town of Cochrane and the Cochrane Tourism Association for promotional purposes.
Rogelli will also be gifting several copies of the finished Rogelli catalogue.
Roosenboom has only been a full-time photographer for six years.
He covers a variety of sporting events but his focus is on cycling.
His cycling photos have earned him several awards, including the Mark Gunter Photographer of the Year award in 2016.
Roosenboom attributes his success as a photographer to his sharp eye for small details.
“I’m always watching. Like an eagle,” said Roosenboom.
Roosenboom stuck around after the formal presentation to chat with photo and cycling enthusiasts alike.
The Rogelli catalogue is expected to be published in August of this year.
