A new marketing event aimed at health and wellness businesses will be an opportunity for Cochrane residents to discover the various services offered in the community and possibly be inspired. Elevate 2018 Cochrane's Wellness weekend will feature 30 businesses on August 11 showcasing everything from yoga and dance, to massage therapy and chiropractics, to supplements and alternative healing practices. The brain child of Marni Richelle, a longtime Cochranite, the weekend is something she says illustrates the health-minded community Cochrane has become. "After living here for many years, I have noticed Cochrane has become a hub for health and wellness," she said, pointing to an abundance of fitness facilities, health studios and sports training facilities for everything from dance to karate in the community. To kick off the weekend on Aug. 10, there will be inspirational and motivational talks in the evening hosted by notable Cochranites. Included on the list of the expected six speakers are Reid Kimmett, who is from the Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation, Heidi Roussow, who availed herself to help a family as their surrogate, and Art Norris, who has lived in Cochrane since the population was only 1,000 people. He will discuss the growth of the community. To kick off the Saturday business tours, participants will gather at Centennial Plaza to get their maps and wristbands before heading off to scheduled events, which will include massages, dance demonstrations, cooking classes, educational seminars and more. To get involved Richelle asks people to sign up online and pre-register for the events. Fees for the weekend are $30 for adults, $65 for a family of two adults and up to four children, or $15 for youth under 18. Those who are only interested in the Friday evening talks, admission is $15 per person. Tickets and registration can be done online at https://www.marnirichelle.com/events/elevate.
