This July, Bragg Creek Days kick off, but this year features a special two-day event timeline.

Every summer, residents of west Rocky View County (RVC), and many others, make a pilgrimage of sorts to Bragg Creek for what has become a decades long annual summertime tradition: Bragg Creek Days

But this year’s Bragg Creek Days is different. Technically, the yearly summer festival has been contained to just one day, but this year’s version of the celebration will stretch over a weekend. Bragg Creek Days 2025 will start on Saturday July 19 and carry over into Sunday, July 20.

The residents and guests of Bragg Creek can expect to be treated to a day of festive fun that includes many activities that have been staples of Bragg Creek Days past. Things like a pancake breakfast, pony rides, a pie-eating contest, and a town-wide “sidewalk sales” have been on the Bragg Creek days agenda before.

Tried and true summer festival activities typically mark the annual Bragg Creek Days. Community members and guests from far and wide can expect to be treated  to a wide variety of exciting and festive activities, like live music, beer gardens, a parade, a pie-eating contest, as well as a food market and other such things staffed by local vendors, all of which have been featured in Bragg Creek Days in years prior.

In years past, organizers of Bragg Creek Days-- people involved with the Bragg Creek Community Association (BCCA)–say the festivities represent a little of everything Bragg Creek.

“If you came to Bragg Creek Days you'd get a really good feel for what we're all about here,” said Ramonde Maxfield, one of the lead organizers for Bragg Creek Days 2024. “[It’s] a big strong community with lots of different factions of the demographic having fun together.”

Some Bragg Creek Days events, like the parade, have become community staples. The parade itself is in its 56th year and the BCCA announced a few weeks ago that this year's parade marshals are the Rink Rats, the “legendary ice loving mischief-makers” of the BCCA Rink Committee.

In years past the parade featured a lot of Bragg Creek area history, including antique cars, horses and carriages. This year’s parade will commence the weekend festival at 10:30 a.m. on July 19.

Organizers of Bragg Creek Days told the Rocky View Weekly last year that the festivities have evolved over time to include kid-friendly options, reflecting the changing demographics of the hamlet.

“There are a lot of younger families that have moved into Bragg Creek,” Maxfield said last year. “We have a lot more kids here and so we're kind of trying to focus more on the kids' activities and amping that part up a bit.”

As Bragg Creek Days draws nearer, more information about the weekend can be found at the BCCA website, which is still currently accepting parade float registrants.
