Thanks to funding from the Alberta Conservation Association, the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (GRPF) is able to offer fly-fishing classes for youth and adults.

“It was a fun and educational experience for my eight year old,” said Laura Martin, whose son Derrick participated in last week’s session. “He caught his first fish and is so excited that we’re going fishing this Friday.”

The one-day class teaches the basics of fly-fishing and includes in-class time, hands-on practise and real fishing time.

“We’re grateful for the support of the Alberta Conservation Association,” said Tara McFadden of the GRPF. “This funding supports not only affordable fishing classes but the creation of a fishing club and other educational opportunities.”

Classes are $20 for adults and $10 for children and are limited to six participants. There are separate classes for adults (14 and over) and youth (eight to 14 years old) and both are taught by volunteer instructors. Contact grpf.ca/events for more information or to register for the fly-fishing class.
