Art lovers are welcome to the Foothills Art Club annual Fall Show and Sale next weekend at the Cochrane Alliance Church.
With approximately 60 artists to attend the show, there will around 200 paintings to admire or purchase and bring home Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission to guests.
“When you see the talented artists showing their best, it’s very amazing,” said Gwen Stickel, art show coordinator.
There will be a free draw door prize for an original painting by Calgary-based artist Anne McGilvary, known for her acrylic and oil landscape paintings.
Stickel said there is art there for everyone, using every type of medium, whether it be oils, pastels, acrylics, charcoal or pencil.
“We believe it’s going to be tops – it’s a good time of year, the weather is still good,” Stickel said. “We expect it to be a success; it always is.”
The Foothills Art Club is in its 12th year and is funded through grants from the Town of Cochrane, Cochrane Foundation and Bow RiversEdge Campground.
“We are very thankful – [and] very excited about the year ahead,” Stickel said.
“These grants have enabled us to present the artists in a more professional manner and give local artists a chance to show their art in Cochrane.”
In addition to higher-end works, there will also be an area called the ‘boutique’ where every piece of art will be $100 or less. Live music will also be at the show and sale and refreshments will be available.
“We just want everyone to come out and have a good time,” Stickel said.
