The Cochrane to Calgary Trail (C to C Trail) could soon be a reality, as 30 per cent of funding goals have been raised within 30 days of the campaign’s launch.

Since the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (GRPF) launched its funding campaign Feb. 25, over $30,000 has been raised, which will go towards construction costs of the “Bearspaw Trail” pathway through Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park.

“We knew that this project would get people involved from all walks of life,” said Susan de Caen, executive director of the GRPF in a recent press release. “How can you resist being a part of Canadian history?”

The GRPF need to meet its $100,000 goal by July 1 to begin construction on the pathway during the desired timeframe.

Donors should be aware of several perks based on their donation amount, which includes recognition on GRPF website for a $50 donation and permanent recognition along the trail if a donation over $100 is given.

The “Bearspaw Trail” is the first of a planned expansive network of pathways that will be constructed through Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park by 2020.

The whole system will cost an estimated $7.5 million, which will connect northwest Calgary to Cochrane as part of the Trans Canada Trail system.
