Wild Rose MP Blake Richards has started planning for his fifth annual Rocky Mountain Hockey Challenge, which will be held June 30 in Springbank.
The game features MPs versus MLAs with NHL players and alumni assisting both sides, and raises funds to be split between regional victims’ assistance groups in the Wild Rose riding, including Cochrane, Bow Valley, Airdrie and Chinook Arch Victims Services.
Last year, $24,104 was raised, with $6,000 going to Cochrane and Area Victim Services.
Overall, the hockey challenge has raised close to $200,000 over its four-year run.
Providing a helping hand for this year’s event will be Sheldon Kennedy, a former NHL hockey player from Brandon, Man., who recently had The Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre (formerly called the Calgary Child Advocacy Centre) named in his honour in early April.
Richards’ game will be held at the Edge School for Athletics.
Tickets to the event are $10 and available online at blakerichards.ca/wildrosehockey, by calling 1-800-667-0410 or by emailing [email protected].
