Thanks to the community, Ghost Station located off Highway 1A, 13 kilometres west of Cochrane, was able to stuff its stocking once again!

The second annual “Stuff the Stocking” event was a huge success according to event organizer Caroline Hookey. The event ran from Dec. 1-Dec. 21 at the gas station to provide toys and food bank items to the Morley Helping Hampers program.

Hookey says they were able to fundraise a “truck full of toys and food” as well as “$170 in cash and $200 in gift cards.”

The station also accepted a number of clothing donations, which were donated to Morley’s women’s shelter.

The donations were distributed to families Dec. 23, just in time for Christmas. Hookey says the event will be carried on next year but thinks they may “start it earlier” to allow for more time to collect donations.

They also plan to meet with Belinda Simeon, the manager of Morley Food Bank, ahead of the fundraiser to address “the needs of the community.”

Hookey would like to wish “a big thank you to the community and friends and family of the Ghost Station” for their continued support and generosity.
