A mature grizzly bear was found dead by Alberta Fish and Wildlife last weekend near the intersection of Hermitage Road and the Trans-Canada Highway.

An officer with Fish and Wildlife said that they responded to a report of road kill and upon arrival confirmed that the bear was a very large grizzly.

Bear sightings have been in abundance over the last few months, with residents in Cochrane’s Riverview community claiming to have spotted a small black bear the morning of Sept. 10.

Fish and Wildlife said that bear sighting calls are a daily occurrence and that motorists should be especially mindful around major roadways this time of year.

If you have an incident or have a sighting to report, call 403-932-2388 or the ‘report a poacher’ line at 1-800-642-3800.
