Halloween will see Cochrane streets littered with sugar-crazed ghouls and goblins on Oct. 31 this year. Leading up to the spook-tacular October's end event are a number of celebratory costume events, games and contests for your little ninjas, witches and vampires. Colouring Contests Save On Foods has kicked off its annual colouring contest, with final entries being accepted until Oct. 26, where they will draw for the big prize winner of the giant pumpkin to take home. Pick up your sheets in store and remembers to stay inside the lines. Royal LePage Integrity is also hosting a colouring contest, with the three winners from each of the three age categories being selected on Oct. 30. The winning artists will take home a free movie pass to the Cochrane Movie House. Saturday, Oct. 20 The annual pumpkin giveaway will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. courtesy of Royal LePage Integrity. In exchange for a donation to the Activettes Food Bank. The giveaway will take place in the parking lot in front of the office at #1, 201 Grand Blvd. where everyone gets a pumpkin. Hot chocolate, cookies and games for the kids will also be served up. The Markit Cochrane is hosting its Halloween Edition this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. courtesy of the Cochrane Light Up committee. This takes place at the Cochrane Alliance Church, in conjunction with the monthly indoor market. Free Halloween-themed face painting and tattoos are on the menu. Light Up volunteer recruitment is ongoing. Friday, Oct. 26 The fourth annual Cochrane Pumpkin Lantern Festival will take place at the Cochrane Ranche from 6 to 9 p.m. Bring a pumpkin, walk the trail and enjoy the spooky-lit evening. The annual festivities draws thousands of attendees each year with an impressive display of pumpkins. Saturday, Oct. 27 The Zumba Halloween Costume Party will run 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre. Admission is free with donation to the Activettes Food Bank. Dress to the nines and come jump around Zumba style.
