The annual winter wear donation campaign kicked off yesterday. This year, Family Community Support Services (FCSS) – organizers of the yearly Jacket Racket event – are hoping for more children sized (infant to 12 years old) jackets, hats and mitts although adult clothing is always welcome. Halloween costumes for donation will also be accepted. All items donated must be clean and gently used only. Those with donations can drop off their items at Safeway, Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area, Bow Valley Credit Union, FCSS building, Parent Link Centre or Cochrane Alliance Church. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 25. FCSS will be throwing a family-friendly party at the Alliance Church on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon for families and individuals experiencing financial hardship but are in need of winter items. All are welcome. Annemarie Tocher said children attending the events will have the opportunity to participate in games, crafts and have their pictures taken individually or with family members.
