Helping Hands is looking for warm helping hands.

The Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area are reaching out to new and existing volunteers to host warming centres (or severe weather havens) in Cochrane.

The recent cold spell reinforced the need, and the sponsors of the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk are hosting a public community meeting in collaboration with the Cochrane Library this Wednesday evening, Feb. 7 from 6 to 7 pm

At this stage, the warming stations are an idea – a potential new program that is gauging interest tomorrow night at a public meeting at the Cochrane Public Library at 405 Railway St. W.

“We hope that anyone who has interest is available to attend,” said  Community Engagement & Food Programs Manager April Baird.
