The Cochrane and Area Humane Society is looking for the public's help finding thieves who have been raiding the organization's bottle donation shed.
Sgt. Tom Kalis, with Cochrane RCMP, said several hundred dollars worth of bottles were taken from the shed based on a report of a break in that occurred on July 17 at about 2 a.m.
However, a CAHS spokesperson said the shed has been raided on more than one occasion, which bites into the organization's budget. According to the Humane Society, the organization raises around $15,000 annually from bottle donations.
Janine Rossler, a representative from the shelter, said the thefts are a significant loss to the Humane Society and they have been making efforts to try and increase security.
The donation location began as a simple bin in front of the shelter but thefts forced incremental upgrades to the current metal Sea-Can, heavily locked and watched by cameras that were donated by a member of the public.
Rossler said there are few other options for receiving donations because space at the shelter is limited.
"We will look into whatever other deterrents we can but we don't have another spot for them," she said.
The vehicle involved in the heists is described as a white SUV according to the video.
CAHS, which runs an animal shelter and numerous education program is 100 per cent funded by donation and community grants.
