As part of a long-term goal to reduce poverty across the province, representatives of the Alberta government will be coming to Cochrane to speak with residents about their thoughts and ideas on the matter.
The discussion on how to best support individuals and families out of poverty is slated to run Nov. 2 at the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area. The conversation will begin at 10 a.m. and last two hours.
The meeting is an attempt to learn about poverty’s presence in Cochrane — to learn what poverty looks like in the community, understand the impact of poverty on the community and to discuss ideas on how to reduce Alberta-wide poverty.
The Cochrane visit is part of the provincial government’s initiative to create a community-driven plan to address poverty in Alberta.
