Although the paved pathways will reopen this week, wooded areas and natural trails in the reserve remains closed.

The Town of Cochrane has announced the reopening of the paved pathway between Riviera and Rivercrest that was closed earlier this summer due to coyote denning.

The section was shut down in June after a den was identified in the environmental reserve. Since then, pedestrians have been unable to use the route.

“Thank you for your patience,” the Town stated in a Facebook post. “The paved pathways in the Environmental Reserve (ER) in Riviera will reopen this week.”

While the pathway is reopening, the Town reminds residents that the wooded environmental reserve area and natural trails remain closed. Pet owners must keep dogs leashed at all times, and signage and barricades should be respected.

Any negative wildlife interactions should be reported to [email protected].
