Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Cochrane and area.
The watch was issued Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 11:21 a.m., with forecasters warning that conditions this afternoon could lead to severe thunderstorms moving east into the evening.
“When thunder roars, go indoors,” Environment Canada stated. “Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Large hail can cause significant damage and injury.”
The storms could bring damaging hail, strong winds and heavy rain.
Environment Canada is urging the public to monitor forecasts and alerts.
