Cochrane’s going to experience a British Invasion through the Cochrane Drum Tutor's John, Paul, George, and the 30 Ringos concert on June 22.
The concert will take place at the Cochrane Alliance Church, with doors opening at 2 p.m. Organizer for the event, Edward Allen, said the concert will feature the Beatles tribute band All You Need is Love, who will also perform alongside his students.
“We have arranged a set list of 30 songs, and students who signed up basically took selected a Beatles song from this list, then over the last few months they've been working on those to perfect them,” Allen said. “We will work through this set lost with the band on stage all the time, and each of my students will rotate in and out to play their own number.”
Allen further explained that this will work differently from traditional recital, and be more like a pop concert. Throughout the performance, a series of quizzes will also take place, where people can win a variety of prizes.
He also advises attendees to don their best Sixties attire, as the best dressed guest may have the chance to win a very special prize.
In addition, several music tutors from Calgary will be showcased in the lobby, and the Cochrane Music Society will also be in attendance.
Allen said he hopes community members come out and take part in the concert as he believes it will be a fun event for everyone of all ages.
“We’re trying to create some sort of community fun, and entertaining afternoon vibe,” he said. “Time will tell whether owe do it, but that’s the aim, to make it count as special.”
