A June 24 trial date has been set for a Calgary Flames prospect who was charged with assault following a bar fight at Cochrane’s Stageline Saloon on July 29.
Michael Ferland, 20, was charged one week after a man was knocked unconscious during an altercation outside the bar. The trial will be held in Calgary.
Ferland is from Brandon, Man. He was the Flames’ fifth round choice in the 2010 National Hockey League draft. He is in his rookie season with the Flames’ American Hockey League affiliate in Abbotsford, B.C.
