Grassroots group Unite the Right is bringing Jason Kenney to town next Monday for Cochranites to get some insights into the man many are hedging their bets will be the newly elected leader of the Alberta PCs this spring.

“I’m a huge supporter of Kenney,” said Coun. Morgan Nagel, who disclosed that he has officially taken a position on the Kenney campaign team.

The event will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Seniors on the Bow Centre on Dec. 19, located on the second floor of the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Nagel said his support for Kenney is twofold: that he is the biggest proponent for the Unite the Right movement – which seeks to (essentially) merge the Wildrose and PCs in what is believed by some to be a way to clinch a 2019 conservative victory – and that he is simply “the right man for the job”.

The councillor added that Canadians needs a hard-working politician to best represent Albertan values to a prime minister who is “all glamour and not a lot of substance” and appear to have a “huge climate agenda”.

Kenney believes firmly in the rule of law; limited government; and the sanctity of property and contract.
