Late last night (March. 22) a Cochrane RCMP vehicle was responding to a call for service when it struck a vehicle that had turned into its driving lane on Highway 1A near Morley, Alberta.

Three occupants in the civilian vehicle were taken by ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre and are being treated for non life threatening injuries. Two Cochrane officers were taken to the Canmore hospital and were later release after being treated for minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate what led to the collision. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

"Even though five people were injured in this collision it could have been much worse," said Troy Savinkoff Cpl. with the Cochrane RCMP.

The Cochrane RCMP is reminding citizens to take extra precautions during this already difficult time.
