The Cochrane Public Library is looking to launch an Adult Lego Club this coming fall.

Legos have long been a tool for creativity, inspiring generations of builders both young and old. Now, the Cochrane Public Library is giving adults their own space to rekindle or continue their love of the iconic building bricks.

“We discovered in our ‘Let’s Go Lego’ family program that adults honestly love Legos just as much as children,” said Carmen Erison, the library’s program and engagement manager. “You see TV programs now like ‘Lego Masters’ and all kinds of adult Lego-themed events happening.”

Recognizing the growing nostalgia and enthusiasm among adult fans, the library piloted a few Lego sessions for adults this past spring and the results spoke for themselves.

“We were very fortunate to see that there was definitely an interest for an adult Lego program,” Erison said.

Building on that success, the library is launching a new program this fall called ‘Master Builders,’ designed specifically for adults. The program will begin on September 15 and run twice monthly on the third Monday and fourth Saturday with each session lasting an hour and a half.

“We anticipate adults will be working on larger-scale builds that may take several sessions to complete,” said Erison. “Our goal is to keep these builds intact from session to session until they’re finished.”

Running alongside the popular Let’s Go Lego family program, Master Builders will require an expanded Lego supply to meet growing demand. In response, the library has issued a call for community donations.

“We’re looking for general Lego supplies,” Erison said. “That includes bricks, base plates, and minifigures, those are the key pieces we’re hoping to add to our collection.”

The Cochrane Public Library hopes to grow its adult Lego community piece by piece, one builder at a time.

Anyone interested in donating Lego bricks can drop them off during library hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The library is located at 405 Railway Street West.
