Local Cochrane musicians are inviting people to join them for an evening of Christmas music.

Local musician Martin Russell, along with a group of local performers, will be putting on their annual Merry Christmas Concert at St. Andrew’s United Church Saturday, Dec. 6 beginning at 7 p.m.

“It’s so much fun because it is off the cuff. Everything is just right there and then. It’s because of that everyone has so much fun,” said Russell. “It’s become such a wonderful happy time.”

Russell, who has lived in Cochrane for 22 years, said he began putting on the concert because he wanted to give back to the community and music was a great way to do that.

He said there would be anywhere from 15 to 25 performers and they usually have around 200 people show up for the event, which runs for around two hours.

The event is free, but Russell said they would be accepting donations to the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank or to St. Andrew’s United Church.
