The Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (GRPF) has nearly doubled its fundraising goal for the Calgary to Cochrane Trail (C to C Trail), with $194,732.48 in donations pouring in and surpassing the $100,000 goal.
“Visitors have been asking for years when the connections from Calgary to Cochrane through Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park are going to happen, ” said Tara McFadden of the GRPF in a recent media release.
“Thanks to the overwhelming number of donations from our trail supporters, we now have a definite answer. ”
More than 800 donations have come in over the last four months, ranging from $5-$10,000. The funds will go toward the fall construction of Bearspaw Trail (phase one of the C to C Trail).
This 2.2km of trail will be the connection to Calgary's Haskayne Park, slated for development next year.
The City of Calgary is currently working toward the trail connection, as well.
“We are excited to see the Glenbow Ranch portion of the trail moving forward with the successful fundraising campaign, ” said Doug Marter, Calgary parks planning and development manager, in a recent media release.
“Calgary parks is looking forward to completing the final connection through to Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park in 2017. ”
