As movie premieres go, there are always a few stars on the red carpet. The acting is done, the camera’s have rapped, the final cut is complete and all that’s left to do is sit down and watch.

That’s exactly what the Cochrane Movie House is doing with their upcoming Red Carpet Movie Premieres for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, which will premiere Dec. 12, at 8:15.

For the Movie House, these events have become a fun way to involve the public in something more than just watching a movie, as themed decorations and plenty of door prizes add to the whole experience, said theatre manager Nicole Sheepy-Copses.

“I really do love putting these events together, they take a lot of time and effort to put together but when I see the people walk in to the event it makes it totally worth it,” she said. “I like to try to theme the decorations to the movie.”

Tickets for The Hunger Games red carpet are $35 and they include a double-feature of the first Hunger Games, followed up with the early release premiere of Catching Fire as well as your popcorn and a drink.

The Desolation of Smaug premiere will include pop and popcorn and some very fun themes and tons of awesome prizes, said Sheepy-Copses, all for $30.

Dressing up as your favorite characters for either movie is definitely encouraged by the staff and they might even dress up too.

“In the past we have had great feedback from our red carpet events and everyone walks away with a smile, said Sheepy-Copses. “I mean, how can you not, you get to see the movie before everyone else, how cool is that?”
