Multiple pivotal infrastructure projects nearing completion

Three pivotal construction projects in the community are nearly complete, according to the Town.

The Town of Cochrane says that three pivotal infrastructure projects in the community are nearing completion.

With construction season in high gear, Cochrane is pleased to announce that three pivotal infrastructure projects in the community are near completion.

The three projects include Centre Avenue, Syphon Project, and the Highway 1A Enhancements. The Town outlines that these projects promise to improve community livability and improve traffic flow.

Mayor Jeff Genung said that it has quite literally been a long road that has seen day-to-day improvements.

"The investments in our community are starting to pay off. Despite encountering delays along the way, we are finally approaching the finish line on these projects,” Genung said. “They are an example of investing in our community and catching up on our infrastructure needs.

“We have long-awaited their completion and I am excited to see the positive impacts they will have to keep traffic moving efficiently through Cochrane.”

Final touches on Centre Ave. are currently underway, including sidewalk pours along Centre Ave. and First Street. Paving operations are scheduled for late June, weather permitting. This project includes updates infrastructure with widened roadway, with sidewalks to improve this transportation corridor.

The Syphon Project aims to address wastewater needs for west Cochrane. Crews are wrapping up restoration in the surrounding area, with temporary fencing to protect newly landscaped areas.

Highway 1A enhancements are ongoing with sidewalk construction, with landscaping efforts on the south side. The painting of 4th Ave. wall is in preparation for further enhancement later this summer is near completion, with railing installation progressing atop the wall.

With these projects near completion, Cochrane plans to shift gears to the next phase of development. This includes the Historic Ranche and Glenbow Pathway Improvement project starting in July. This project includes paving three km of pathways in Glenbow and the Historic Cochrane Ranch, and replacing four pedestrian bridges in Glenbow Park.

During construction, pathway closures and detours will be in effect while crews work along the pathway and replacing bridges.
