Multiple vehicles stolen in Cochrane

In the past two weeks, eight vehicles have been stolen in Cochrane and the surrounding communities, according to the RCMP.

While the number might seem significant, Cochrane RCMP say it was an average week.

“It is not a rash – sometimes nothing gets stolen for a while, then a few things here and there then a bunch of things get stolen. It is just sporadic,” one of the Cochrane constables explained.

In previous interviews with the Eagle, the RCMP explained that crime at times increases depending on who was recently released from jail.

Vehicles taken from Cochrane in the past few weeks:

Nov. 21

A Bobcat was stolen from the Glenbow area.

Nov. 24

A Dodge Ram stolen was stolen from the Rocky View County area – it has since been recovered.

Nov. 25

A 2000 Honda Civic was stolen from Railways Street in Cochrane, license plate BRM 9010.

Another vehicle was stolen and recovered in Cochrane.

A Blue Dodge Ram was stolen from the Rocky View County area by River Spirit Golf Club, licence plate LCD 198.

Nov. 28

A 2004 Blue Dodge Ram was stolen from the Sunset community in Cochrane, licence BGL 2086.

Nov. 29

A red cargo trailer was taken from Bow Meadows area in Cochrane.

Two ford pick-up trucks were stolen from Redwood Meadows but both have since been recovered.

Cochrane RCMP encourage citizens to lock their vehicles and for neighbours to watch out for each other and report suspicious persons.

If anyone any of the vehicles occupied, RCMP advises not to approach the vehicle but to call 911 right away. If anyone sees the vehicles unoccupied, call the complaint line at 403-932-2211 and do not approach or disturb it.
