No criminal record check required for Rocky View Schools nominees

Rocky View Schools (RVS) board trustees voted against requiring a criminal record check for trustee nomination at their special meeting today, Dec. 17.
Rocky View Schools will introduce a new dual credit program with SAIT next year.

School board trustee nominees for Rocky View Schools will not be asked to provide a criminal record check to run in the upcoming 2025 election.

Rocky View Schools (RVS) board trustees voted against requiring a criminal record check for trustee nomination at their special meeting today, Dec. 17.

Municipalities and school boards were required to make a decision before the end of the year on whether to require record checks for candidates. The option was introduced by the provincial government when election rules were overhauled as part of Bill 20. 

The next municipal election takes place in October 2025.
