Nominees for Cochrane Community Awards have been announced

The nominees are in for the 2014 Cochrane Community Awards, and there is no shortage of familiar names and organizations.

The nominees are in for the 2014 Cochrane Community Awards, and there is no shortage of familiar names and organizations.

In all, there are 31 people/community organizations that are up for one of 12 awards, which include Mayor and Council’s Order of Cochrane; Business of the Year; Employer of the Year; Community Builder of the Year; Ambassador of the Year; Citizen of the Year; Senior of the Year; Education in Action; Volunteer Group of the Year; Pathfinder of the Year; Youth of the Year; and Newsmaker of the Year.

The nominees are: Barnett Orthodontics, Cochrane Community Midwives, Cochrane Girl Guides – Co-West District, Cochrane Hiking Club, Cochrane Lanes, Cochrane Movie House, Tyler Cotton, Eliza Donnelly, Jennifer Foy, Friends of the Nan Boothby Memorial Library, Glenbow Elementary School Global Stewards, Christina Harding, Home Reno Heaven, Dave Levson, Hailee Lewis, Lloyd Manning, Colleen McCullagh, Barry and Dawn Metcalfe, Lauriel Milne, My Goldsmith Ltd., Marguerite Norlander, OnGrowing Works, Shianna Pace, Marlise Rockwell, Seniors for Kids Society, Snap Dance Studios Performance Team, Snap Dance Studios, Judy Stewart, Dave Tschritter, Joy West-Eklund and Maureen Wills.

Emceed by Cochranite and CBC News Calgary’s Carla Beynon, the 2014 Cochrane Community Awards ceremony will be held May 25 from 2-4 p.m. at the Cochrane RancheHouse.
