Open house provides glimpse into Ghost-Waiparous

The Ghost Stewardship Monitoring Group (GSMG) will be holding an open house for a public viewing of a number of organizations with an interest in the Ghost Waiparous region. Hosted by the group, the information session with take place on Feb.

The Ghost Stewardship Monitoring Group (GSMG) will be holding an open house for a public viewing of a number of organizations with an interest in the Ghost Waiparous region.

Hosted by the group, the information session with take place on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. at Beaupre Hall, located off Highway 40, north of the Highway 1A — Highway 40 intersection.

“If the public has any interest at all in the Ghost Waiparous area and the GSMG, come to hear what we’ve done, what we’re doing and what we’re planning to do,” said Martin Buckley, chair of the stakeholder organization.

Buckley said he anticipates representatives from a number of industries to be on hand for the open house, from recreation enthusiasts, to oil and gas spokespeople.

The GSMG is made up of a number of stakeholders for the Ghost Waiparous region, who are striving to ensure there is access to the area for all types of users, while maintaining the characteristics of the region.

The group was brought together by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (AESRD), and report back to the AESRD with recommendations on many topics, ranging from infrastructure to land protection, that effect the Ghost Waiparous area.
